Heather is a cellist and music educator from Saskatchewan. Heather began her studies at the Conservatory of music in Regina studying with Raymond Hoffmann, Principal cellist, of the Regina Symphony Orchestra. As a young cellist Heather competed in and won many scholarships and awards, most notably the Canadian National Music festival. Heather had the opportunity to study with many great musicians, including Ardith Alton and Joseph Gingold at the Meadowmount school of music, as well as Vladimir Orloff, Aldo Parisot and Janos Starker at the Banff School of Fine Arts master class program. At twelve years of age Heather was contracted by and started playing with the Regina Symphony Orchestra, a position she held for over 35 years. As an orchestral musician, Heather had the opportunity to play both Principal and Assistant Principal with the RSO. Heather has been a teacher for over 30 years, teaching students of all ages. As a teacher, Heather has prepared many students for competitions and exams with successful outcomes. At the Conservatory of Music in Regina, Heather became the Junior String Music director. In this capacity, Heather worked with young musicians in a string orchestra setting guiding them through the experience of being part of an ensemble. As a teacher, Heather organizes each lesson specifically for the student, as everybody learns in a different way. It is important to provide the best possible options for a student so they have a positive learning experience.
